My memories in Wisconsin.

I have been in Madison, which is capital of Wisconsin. When I first came to USA, everything was cool. Most buildings, parks, and people looked really different. As time went by, I was a little bit sick of this town becuase I thought this town was really small and nothing to have a fun. It was definitely my misconception. You know?? I have been regreating that I have left Madison since I left Madison. Madison people are really cool and everything is cool in Madison. Most people drink beer and have parties on Friday night. That's why people in Madison, they are easygoing. I love this town even though this town is not as big as NY city, Chicago, LA, and so on. I want to get back to this time when I was happy in Madison. Hey, I love and miss all of you guys who I met in Madiosn. lol

Politics is one of the oldest subjects in the world. Even if you are not concerned about politics, politics is always around us and affects our lives. These days, most people have political rights and freedoms. Even young people participate in politics and it is not thought odd anymore. Andy is a high school student who is from Korea and shows a typical Korean’s political point of view. Mike is an undergraduate student who is from Milwaukee and has had an internship at an USA embassy in Germany, which has influenced his interest in politics. Andy and Mike, both of my interviewees are willing to participate in politics; however, they show contrasting points of view about the way they think of participating in politics.
Even though both of my interviewees watch and read the news, they criticize policies and politicians differently. Mike always reads news from several sources. He said that he is very critical of the president and local politicians who have a huge impact on policies. He believes people should often support and evaluate politicians who adopt policies, which are more accessible and possible. On the other hand, Andy is just concerned about the big issues in politics. He said that people should be careful in politics. He assumes that people don’t always understand exactly how policies affect then they take effect.
In addition, what makes Mike involved in politics is different than what makes Andy get involved. Mike said that he is most interested in politics when new or revised policies affect his life. He is always interested and aware of changes in the education policies because these changes will have a direct impact on his life. Even though Andy is also a student, he is more interested in politics when new policies affect the society which he belongs to. He has learned that most of Korean people have demonstrated against dictatorship. He said that this historical fact reflects the Korean people’s political view points and he also fees that he has the same view point as a Korean.
Both of my interviewees agreed that people need to support politicians to adopt more accessible and effective policies in democratic society; nevertheless, they have different standards to support politicians. Andy claimed that ability is more important value than morality as a politician. He asserted that politicians have to raise people’s quality of life, thus ability is politicians’ essential element to raise people’s quality of life. He said that most politicians to be elected have to reflect people’s opinion; in addition, politicians’ morality will not affect their policies. He thinks most of politicians are scandalous; moreover, that no one can evaluate a politicians’ morality. In contrast, Mike supports honest people desiring to have an impact in the United States. He said that politicians are supposed to be honest and have morality because both values have a mutual relationship. He believes corruption represent lack of ability.
The interviews with Mike and Andy revealed different political points of view between a young Korean student and a young American student. One thing that amazed me is that most American people have similar desire to participate in politics if new policies affect their lives. The fact is American people are more individual than Korean people. Andy is willing to participate in politics when new policies affect the society which he belongs to, as Korean people have more collectivism. Those answers are what I expected. Through the interviews, I realized that many young people are interested in politics and people often share similar point of view as they have same nationality. I also learned that young people’s political view points are various and not as progressive as old generation think they are.

Hey dude. How was the weekend??
Oh damn. I was really getting bored as usual. I am sick of trying to find something new.U Know? What did I find?? I just found madafuckin nothing. You guyz must like a weekend, but I don't really like becuase Nobody hang out with me and live around me. I understand this situation. Most guyz are just busy with their part time jobs. I actually don't want to get a job in America becuase it is illegal. I just have a student visa. U know what I am saying? I just went to a bar near my home. To be alone is not really usual in Korea. That's why I am really lonely and sad. I had never gone to a bar alone and it could be strange in Korea, but Not really in America. Some guyz went to a bar alone like me. Hmm.. I just got a bottle of beer and a cup of kalua. It was a little bit fun. It was really surprised that some guys understood my typical asian accent English. Hmm.... I will go there one more time and I don't want to be lonely anymore. I would rather than drink alcohol.
